It is a mountainous region with high elevation peaks such as the Carpathians, Tatras and the Fatra mountains, which also hosts some rich mineral deposits. Slovakia’s vegetation is primarily made up of forests and agricultural lands. Its history dates back to the Slavic tribes in the 5th and 6th centuries, and the country has been ruled by various empires and kingdoms throughout its history. The people of Slovakia are predominantly of Slovak ethnicity, with a significant minority of Hungarians.
